ALFONSO CORACE
Fo’s Room
SELF-RELEASED
Wide-reaching solo album from well-travelled Italian muso
Alfonso Corace is a Rome-based multi-instrumentalist most notable for playing guitar with the grindcore band Airlines Of Terror, though he also pounds the skins and/or plays guitar for The Foreshadowing and many more. Stepping out alone - for the most part - Alfonso has sought to make music free of any obvious connection to his past, or indeed “stylistic restraints”. So it’s no surprise that from the symphonic-sounding sludge of opener Serenity to the melodic metal of Isolation and the electronically charged Control, no two songs sound alike. While drums and percussion, bass, guitars, keys and ‘vocals’ (Alfonso is hardly a gifted singer, hence the prodigious, rather irritating reliance upon vocoders) all supplied by the record’s creator, singer Elisabetta Marchetti and flautist Maria Luisa Peliti contribute its more gothic elements. File under ‘interesting experiment’.
