INFERA BRUO
Rites Of The Nameless
PROSTHETIC
Boston’s progressive black metallers pull back their claws
Rites Of The Nameless is Infera Bruo’s fourth full-length and while they are deemed progressive black metal - probably because of clean vocal lines - the record doesn’t feel particularly progressive or exciting. The Breath Of Chaos is a promising start and Latent Foe Arcane marries harsh vocals with a beautiful harmony, but the song soon drags while the symphonic build-up of Cimmerian Shade feels unnecessary at best. The record is fully produced and mixed by frontman Galen Baudhuin, but he’s edited out much of the hard-hitting black metal that the Botstonians are clearly capable of - Frayed is explosive in its first few minutes and does much to boost the view that Infera Bruo could be fantastic.
