Damn The Light APF
British noisemakers combine their love of horror and hops
To decode the racket purveyed by these London sideburn farmers, those in the know could look at the previous album titles - Dead By Dawn, The Ripper, Electric Hell - to quickly conclude certain cinematic mainstays and heavy metal tropes are the fuel in their tank. However, the trio pull as much from the worlds of sludgy stoner doom played through refrigerator-sized amplifiers as they nick from the esoteric corners of Lee Dorrian’s record collection and NYC noise rock. Damn The Light ponies up traditional thunder (Bloodsuckers), Astrosoniq-inspired slinkiness (Return To Slaughter High) and still manages to sound like the distorted manifestation of a rapidly expanding beer gut.
