Sentence deferred again on ‘bathwater’ mother

A LOCHABER woman who held one of her children’s heads under bathwater after she had whispered to her mother she was going to drown the youngster, has had her sentence deferred for a further six months.

The woman, who is in her 30s, appeared before Sheriff Eilidh MacDonald at Fort William Sheriff Court last week. She had originally appeared in court in June, when she admitted the offence, and had sentencing deferred for three months for a supplemented community justice and social work report and advice from the children’s panel. The June court hearing was told how she had pushed the youngster’s head under bathwater at an address in Lochaber on May 24 this year. As a result, all of the woman’s children were put on the child protection register and she could only see them under the supervision of her own mother and her mother’s partner. Nothing can be reported that may identify the child or its siblings.
