The campaign to free Billy Irving received a welcome boost recently when Foreign Office minister Hugo Swires visited him at the Indian prison where he is being held.
Next month Billy’s fiancee, Yvonne MacHugh, and their son William will fly out for a visit. She is hoping Billy’s bail hearing will be successful and he will be allowed out to spend time with his family and see his son christened.
Pressure needs to be kept on the British government to, in turn, keep pressure on the Indian government, so that when Billy’s appeal is heard next Wednesday (June 15), it will be successful. Anyone wishing to add their signature to the petition, started by Yvonne to free the six British ex-soldiers, including Billy, from the Indian jail, can find it at www.change.org/p/british-foreign-secretary-free-the-6-british-ex-soldiers-from-indian-jail.
