There’s a particular poignancy to Beetlejuice’s West End debut, debuting as it has after the loss of Catherine O’Hara, who played Lydia’s delightfully flighty and narcissistic interior designer stepmother Delia in the original film. As Timbers reflects, “She was the first cast member from the original movie to come see the musical on Broadway. And she loved it. Her and her husband Bo Welch, a production designer who worked on a lot of Tim Burton movies – they both came. Then it was a real highlight for us that she introduced our number at the [2019 Tony Awards].”
