The fantasy author fires up the washing machine when he’s stuck
Describe the room in which you typically write.
Usually I write at my desk, which is in my bedroom. It is probably the precise opposite of a true writing desk as most imagine it: it is small, spare, has no drawers or cupboards, and is very old and wobbly. The lamp’s shade wriggles and jostles as I type. But it does sit in front of our bay window, and there I get to sit and watch birds and creatures coming and going in our garden.
