Diane Morgan boots up her inner Ann Droid in a new BBC sitcom

SHE HAS ASKED RIDICULOUS questions as Philomena Cunk, negotiated the minefield of the school drop-off in Motherland, and strived to be the Last One Laughing. Now, Diane Morgan is playing a robot carer in Ann Droid, the new BBC One sitcom she has co-written with Australian comedian Sarah Kendall.
In the series, 40-something Michael (Morgan’s Motherland co-star Paul Ready) buys a second-hand Ann Droid Z58 to look after his recently bereaved mum, Sue (Sue Johnston). She’s not happy about getting an AI housemate, however, especially as this “pre-loved” model runs on a slightly outdated operating system.
