Most people who are concerned they drink more than is healthy are not alcoholics. Instead, they have an emotional attachment to drinking alcohol – although they may not be able to identify what that is. While I don’t believe abstinence is necessary for most overdrinkers, there’s no doubt that giving up alcohol for any period will bring physical health benefits. The trouble is, most people quickly resume their old drinking habits once the dry period is up.
