Co-op powers are hard to parse at a glance, with a few exceptions. This purple cloud slows down any enemies inside.
G od has had it coming for millennia, it seems, and here’s your chance to take him down a peg or two. 33 Immortals casts you as one of the souls banished to Hell who isn’t about to take damnation lying down; in an afterlife based on Dante Alighieri’s Divine Comedy by way of Supergiant Games’ Hades, you take up arms with the rest of the damned in hopes of storming the pearly gates. It’s a compelling premise – and a shame, then, that the novelty wears thin well before you’re knocking on Heaven’s door.
You start out in the Dark Woods, a hub area where you can tweak your equipment, spend currency and poke at training dummies before passing through the big gate to an afterlife battlefield. Per the work of Dante (who’s one of the NPC vendors in his snappy red outfit), there are three locations to choose from: Inferno, Purgatorio and Paradiso. You and a host of other players cooperatively cut down demons and angels alike across the sprawling map, grinding for stat boosts and relics akin to Hades’ divine boons.
