ATOMHENGE
Looking good in its fully restored Barney Bubbles gatefold sleeve, this best of was first on the racks in 1976. Long since deleted, it brought together classic tracks from the band’s first five albums and included a couple of timeless 45s in the form of Urban Guerilla and ancient school disco strobe classic Silver Machine. Roadhawks opens with the folk jangle of the lovely yet unrepresentative Hurry On Sundown before freaking out into the far reaches with Space Is Deep (Doremi Fasol Latido), Wind Of Change (Hall Of The Mountain Grill) and The Golden Void (Warrior On The Edge Of Time). A worthy intro to a great band, this compilation has been remastered from the original mastertapes and lovingly cut at Abbey Road. What’s more, the package includes a faithful reproduction of the Roadhawks poster included with the first press.
