COMMEMORATIONS ALL ROUND: Volunteers at the Pontypool & Blaenavon Railway are pictured following a successful gala weekend which saw almost 500 passengers carried over the two days, and featured all of the operational steam fleet, including left to right: Jessie, Empress, Rosyth No.1 and No. 1219 Caledonia Works. The ensemble is pictured in front of the new carriage shed, which was officially opened on September 10, by Welsh Senedd Member for Torfaen, Lynne Neagle. The ceremony also saw the structure dedicated to the memory of Eric Edwards, a long-time volunteer whose generous legacy made the facility possible. The structure of the shed itself, which cost in excess of £100,000, was mostly erected by contractors over the winter of 2017/2018. However, it would take another two years for it to be internally completed by volunteers, with its planned opening in 2020 being postponed due to Covid-19.
