ieb is an easy-to-use web browser inspired by the Vim text editor. The app is fairly light on resources, and has a minimal UI. While you can operate it with a mouse, the USP of the app is that it’s designed for keyboard warriors and can be completely controlled using Vim-like commands.
Vieb has precompiled binaries for both RPM and DEB-based distros. There’s an AppImage, too, and you can also install it from Flathub with flatpak install flathub dev.vieb.Vieb .
Vieb’s dashboard lists your most-visited websites. The browser has a built-in user guide, which you can evoke with the F1 key. Here you’ll find all the keyboard shortcuts you need to surf the internet.
For instance, use j and k to scroll the page a couple of lines at a time, or use Ctrl+d and Ctrl+u to scroll pages. The H and L keys help you go backward and forward. Use t to open new tabs, d to close them, and w and b to traverse between open tabs.
Vieb has several modes, each of which have different uses and their own keyboard mappings. The current mode is listed in the navbar, next to the URL. Use e to switch to Explore mode to enter a URL or search the web. Vieb uses DuckDuckGo to search by default.
