GRIEF RITUAL
Collapse CHURCH ROAD
Up-and-coming British bruisers deliver a knock-out blow
You’d do well to remember the name Grief Ritual, because 2025 is absolutely theirs for the taking. While 2022’s Spiritual Disease EP was a jab to the abdomen from these blackened metallic hardcore upstarts, this debut full-length album is a right hook to the chin. The seismic breakdowns, huge, downtrodden riffs and excellent guest appearances from Cage Fight’s Rachel Aspe on Recursion and Burner’s Harry Nott on the incendiary Bile are matched by the vitriol in vocalist Jamie Waggett’s delivery, as he tackles subjects such as capitalism, the far right and human extinction. The result is a ferocious album that serves as the perfect soundtrack to a fractured state of living.
