Zamāru Ultu Qereb Ziqquratu – Part 1
HEAVY PSYCH SOUNDS A doom-laden journey to the ancient city of Babylon
Mystical Belgian time travellers Wyatt E. are back for a third trip to ancient Babylon, the city that has previously provided them with rich inspiration. Zamāru Ultu Qereb Ziqquratu -Part 1 is a magical journey to ancient Mesopotamia; part enveloping post-doom heaviness, part esoteric soundscape. The whole record is stunning, but the two vocal guest spots (the rest is instrumental) really shine. Im Lelya simmers through a heat haze with Tomer Damsky’s soaring Aramaic vocals, while Lowen’s Nina Saeidi’s ethereal Akkadian performance on The Diviner’s Prayer To The Gods Of The Night is simply transcendent. An evocative and mesmeric record that rolls back the millennia so vividly you can almost smell the incense, this is the soundtrack to a film that desperately needs to be made. ■■■■■■■■■■
