TAYNE
Love MNRK HEAVY/INSIDE JOB
Industrial noise-pop from London trio
Claiming to take their cues as much from Lady Gaga as they do Nine Inch Nails, Tayne marry abrasive electronic beats and synths with a finely honed sense of melody, producing a tight, taut album that is greater than the sum of its parts. As the title suggests, Love is a warts’n’all dissection of the conflicts that arise in relationships, putting the thin line between love and hate under the microscope. Scars careens between downtrodden, relentless beats and a flurry of mellifluous buoyant synths that emphasises the themes, while In This Trend deserves to be a future dance floor anthem, uniting goths and metalheads in writhing, rhythmic ecstasy. With Tayne having already supported the likes of Health, Author & Punisher and Greg Puciato, Love bears all the hallmarks of a band on the cusp of breaking through. ■■■■■■■■■■
