CHILDREN’s minister Josh MacAlister has garnered much praise for his oft-repeated commitment to fix the broken children’s care system and ensure every young person has a “loving home”.
However, love is not all they need. Adopters say the government’s cuts to funding for specialist therapies (see “Suffer little children”, Eye 1649) risk undoing all their sacrifices, hard work and the love they invest in their traumatised children, yet MacAlister refuses to consider reversing the cuts and is censoring their appeals on his social media channels for more support.
