Ed’s Letter
Hello and welcome to the latest issue of Prog. One of the great joys of editing this magazine is the continuous discovery, and sometimes rediscovery, of amazing music. Not everything that goes on the cover has to be something I personally love, but Marillion are a band with whom I go way back – well over 40 years now, however 1995’s Afraid Of Sunlight has never been a frequent visitor to my turntable. Not that I dislike the album – far from it – it’s just never been the first I’d reach for if I was going to listen to Marillion. Not anymore, though. This month I’ve immersed myself in it as we’ve worked on Philip Wilding’s cover story, and I’ve grown to truly appreciate the music on there, as well as the circumstances under which it was recorded. If it’s one of your faves, then you’ll love our feature, which begins on p30. If not, give the album another go as you read it.
