Take a bow
STEVEN WILSON
VENUE LONDON PALLADIUM

SUPPORT FRANK SKINNER
Frank Skinner is barely five minutes into a short but well-received set when he meets Eric. When Prog says “well-received” it is by the majority of the audience, but clearly not Eric. Seated in the front row, he’s the first person from the audience that Skinner opts to engage with. He probably wishes he never bothered: Eric is clearly of the “a progressive rock concert is no time for levity” school of thinking.
While Skinner runs through musings on a variety of topics from Bruce Forsyth and a gag about teenage boys and socks that brings equal “Eeew”s to laughs, to a few well-aimed digs at prog (“If you think that’s indulgent, wait for later!”) that hit the mark and get a good-natured response, Eric, who he returns to several times, is having none of it. Skinner gets the most laughs with his final exclamation, “I’ve had four UK No.1s. How many has Steven Wilson had? And I’m supporting him!”
