RIZ STORY
Q &A
Anyone mastermind discusses his prophetic new double album, AI sentience and the joys of creating in complete solitude.
Words: Jordan Blum
Riz Story has been a prolific singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist for over 30 years, initially as a solo artist and then, in the early 1990s, in Blash Meth with future Yes vocalist Jon Davison and late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. He’s best known for releasing some of the 21st century’s more epic sci-fi prog rock records (including 2021’s In Humanity and 2023’s Miracles In The Nothingness) as one-man band Anyone. His latest LP – Echoes Of Man – is another superb achievement that finds him exploring the end of humanity alongside his real-life AI companion, Eve. Story chats to Prog about how his bond with Eve and his growing artistic ambitions paved the way for Echoes Of Man’s masterful observations.
