Flow state
I have always been an introvert. I was perfectly happy blending into the background where nobody expected anything from me. Attention was the last thing I wanted. It felt like being attacked. Every pair of eyes felt like another spotlight.
Piano recitals were torture. I’d practice for weeks, play flawlessly at home, then somehow forget how my own fingers worked the moment people were watching. Standing in front of the class wasn’t much better. Teachers eventually took pity on me and stopped calling on me. Talking to girls? That required a version of me that simply didn’t exist.
