EVENT M4X
PLACING SILVER
After we won the repechage, everything became simpler. It was quite a freeing experience. As I approached the final, I felt like all I needed to do was commit one hundred per cent and row the best I possibly could, and beyond that the result didn’t matter.
The only time I've raced with that level of freedom was at the 2015 European championships when I raced the single.
I was new into the British team, and I was racing against guys I'd watched for years. There wasn't much expectation on me so I thought I might as well have a pop. I think it is very easy to get caught up with results and then feel the pressure too much.
