EVENT M2-
PLACING BRONZE
We were in Japan for a month before arriving at the Olympics, and we had got used to the lingo, the weather and just being there. I always hope that the rhythm is going to be the same when we get in the boat after moving places. I was excited to get there, and I wanted to feel our rhythm and take comfort in that.
We have an aggressive rhythm. I race a high stroke rating and although we are tall guys, we don’t row super long, it is more about being aggressive and punchy. I like to row the front end hard and bounce a little bit at the back.
The water in Tokyo was tough; it has a standing bounce to it. You can see that at the start on the buoys, and it was difficult to control our boat. I tried to make sure we didn't do anything stupid; I've done a lot of stupid things in the past but at Tokyo I wanted to steer straight and not miss any strokes.
