RESULT BRONZE
Our crew was made by using the wrong equation to get the right answer. We weren’t necessarily meant to be, but we made it work.
The final was wild; out of the top five boats, four of them caught crabs. They weren’t all caught on camera but the only crew that didn't was Great Britain, so credit to them for handling the conditions.
I had one target before the final, it was to get the feeling of time and softness through the front end of the stroke. That feeling is fundamental to our whole technical ethos as a crew. It needed to be there to get the most out of the boat.
The last thing we said to each other before we boated was a line paraphrased from the movie, Eddie the Eagle. There is a scene where Eddie is in a lift with the world champion and they have this fantastic conversation the moral of which is – all we need to do is our best, that's all that matters.
