PLACING BRONZE
I arrived at Tokyo 2020 completely in awe of the Olympics. I have dreamed about the Olympics for a very long time. My crew and I were all debutants at these Games, and we had qualified via the FOQR.
The nerves definitely showed in our heat. We didn't have a great race; our rowing was tentative and we were off the pace right from the get-go. Our crew motto is bold, meticulous, and relentless. And we used that the whole way through the regatta – particularly the relentless part. We didn’t let the result derail us. Even though we’ve only been together for five months we are a very tight knit team. We did a good job of saying to ourselves, “what we showed in the heat is not our standard and we can do better”.
