With her long, blonde hair and coltish limbs, Fearne Cotton has an air of eternal youth about her. So it comes as something of a surprise to realise she’s been on our screens for 20 years; her TV career began at 15 when she presented The Disney Club. Since then she’s headed up everything from Comic Relief to Top Of The Pops and enjoyed a decade-long stint at Radio 1, but in the last year, her career has turned 180 degrees. In May 2015, she resigned to have her second baby, and this June released her first cookbook Cook Happy, Cook Healthy (Orion, £20).
‘Quitting was massively scary,’ Fearne admits to healthy. ‘But after 10 years I needed to shake things up. Being scared is good every now and then; I don’t want to get too comfy.’ She left on a high, and didn’t worry about her next step. ‘I quite like to wing it, even if things don’t go to plan you learn from the experience you get, so it’s win-win. It felt real and if I can do something authentically in my mind, then I’ve already succeeded.’
