Storm Ali arrived with a bang over Oban last Tuesday night. This lightning-quick photograph of a spectacular thunderstorm was taken by Nick Edgington around midnight from Pulpit Hill. Mr Edgington told The Oban Times: ‘I’m usually watching out for the Aurora but as soon as I heard the first bit of thunder I dashed around, grabbed my equipment and set up outside under a wee bit of shelter. ‘Fortunately, I live on Pulpit Hill so I have a perfect view of the bay right on my doorstep. I must have taken about 80 shots but most missed getting the lightning directly in the picture. And then this one happened! Delighted is an understatement, as I’ve never managed to capture forked lightning before!’
