BRUNHILDE
To Cut A Long Story Short
German punk rock duo strike gold on their debut album
COUNT & COUNTESS
Brunhilde’s success comes from good pairings; fiery frontwoman Caro Loy met her “partner in crime”, Kurt Bauereiß, and Brunhilde was born, then a fortuitous meeting with Motörhead and Blind Guardian producer Charlie Bauerfeind resulted in a wild and free punk rock record. To Cut A Long Story Short is crammed with songs around the threeminute mark. Bouncing between a snarling punk matriarch and Dave Mustaine, opener Miss God is an energetic rager. Where Are You Going? is full of hedonistic grit, channelling Live Through This-era Hole. Elsewhere, the quirky In My Head guns for guitar-driven groove over uninhibited rawness and All Is Lost is a simmering occultish track bringing another successful pairing into the fold: that of punk and metal united.
