“How is it possible for the consortium building Line 4 of the Metro system to excavate 160 metres of a tunnel in completely the wrong direction over six months, without anyone from the Transport Ministry noticing?” asked MP Christos Katsotis in the Hellenic Parliament in Athens. “Elliniko Metro SA, who are responsible for the subway, have assured us that they are supervising the work on a 24/7 basis, yet somehow they did not realise the error during six months. The AVAX-Ghello-Alstom consortium, who are digging the tunnel, were aware of the deviation, yet they continued with the excavation unchallenged. How did nobody notice?”
