Oxy moronic
VALID medical uses of hyperbaric oxygen chambers (designed to increase oxygen levels in the blood) can be life-saving but are rare – so much so that NHS England says it can be challenging for medical staff to carry out the 10 uses per year needed to maintain their clinical competency with the equipment.
The NHS is consulting on plans to reduce the number of chambers it maintains access to (mainly in order to treat divers with decompression sickness) from eight to six. When proper devices are used by medical professionals, complications are rare.
