PART of the EU’s response to the US “liberation day” tariffs – aside from offering tariff-free goods trade – is, it says, to “diversify” trade partnerships, thus offsetting the hammer blow of 25 percent tariffs on its BMWs and Mercedes, not to mention 10 percent on everything else the bloc sells to the US.
