POSTAL DELAYS
IT WAS no surprise that the man who did so much to expose the Post Office scandal, Sir Alan Bates, recently suggested the many sub-postmasters waiting years for compensation might be better off suing the Post Office.
Leading campaigner Lee Castleton OBE is already doing so, as the compensation schemes get snarled up in legal quibbling (Eyes passim). Sir Alan himself has suffered delays and derisory offers for his own compensation, under a scheme for members of the group litigation he spearheaded, leading to the Post Office’s defeat in 2019 and blowing open the scandal.
