A-EYE
SCEPTICISM about the real-world benefits of generative AI remain widespread among the British public, with 39 percent of adults seeing AI as “a risk to the economy” and 88 percent asking that government “stop the use of an AI product if it poses a risk of serious harm”.
Surprisingly, these figures come from AI cheerleader the Tony Blair Institute (TBI), which has the ear of government and close financial ties with the industry (Eyes passim). So, what recommendations does the TBI – which has, since 2021, received upwards of £257m from Oracle founder Larry Ellison – have for its friends in Westminster? Less surprisingly, it suggests cracking on anyway!
