31 May: Tory MP Nick Timothy writes in the Spectator that horseracing “is being regulated out of existence”. In particular, he says gambling affordability checks – introduced to ensure punters can afford the bets they’re making – “are turning customers away from racing”, as well as criticising potential government plans to raise online gambling tax on horseracing from 15 to 21 percent.
