GOVERNMENT responses in the Commons suggest ministers are nervous at the prospect of Elbit, Israel’s biggest arms firm, winning a £2bn contract to train the British Army.
In August Eye 1656 revealed that Elbit was one of two firms chosen to bid for the Army Collective Training Service contract. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) paid Elbit and its rival Raytheon £2m each to develop their bids, with contract documents suggesting an announcement is imminent.
