WHY WE RAN IT
To see if this entertaining electric hatchback’s reputation stands up to the in-depth scrutiny of real-world use
“Few more desirable EVs were as good across the board as the Born”
The Cupra Born arrived on our long-term test fleet shortly after being crowned Best Electric Car in the 2024 Autocar Awards, so expectations were appropriately high. After several months and more than 5000 miles behind the wheel, I’m happy to report that this thoroughly impressive electric hatchback has well and truly won me over.
In the time it was here I drove down to Cornwall twice, up to Yorkshire, across into Wales and comprehensively covered west London. It was as comfortable crawling through the capital as it was cruising to the coast, but the lasting impression for me will be the way the Born stands out against more expensive and supposedly more aspirational EVs.
