upra’s line-up can be confusing. The
brand started life with performance derivatives of Seats, and for a few years each of its models had a spicy powertrain of some description. But as it started to take Seat’s place, milder versions were added. As such, you can now buy a Cupra Leon with a 148bhp 1.5.
That’s not what we’re interested in here, though. The performance versions remain at the heart of the brand, and now a facelift has given the Cupra Leon an extra dose of, well, performance.
On the hatchback side, the plugin hybrid has been upgraded to the Volkswagen Group’s latest ultralong-range system with 268bhp, while the 2.0-litre petrol now always comes with 296bhp, since the lowerpower version has been dropped.
