New Scenic makes a great family car but can’t clear that usual SUV hurdle

Jaguar has unwrapped its Design Vision Concept, the all-round-impressive Type 00 coupé (see p4).
There will be relief inside the company that they are at last showing us the fruit of their labours – but many will still be smarting at the Vesuvian reaction to their recent ‘rebranding’ of Jaguar.
It has taken time to decide what I think.
Let me start with some heresy: I wonder if rebranding was really necessary. After all, the furious naysayers – Elon Musk, Nigel Farage, Giles Coren and the rest – all seemed to know Jaguar already. In creating their deluge, they showed that they knew the value of the name perfectly well.
