CONAN
Live At Freak Valley
NAPALM
A full festival set from Liverpool’s heaviest to cure what ails you
Cynics may wonder why we need a third Conan live album, but right now, we’ll take whatever we can get. Besides, captured on the main stage of a German open air festival, this offers a different vibe to the more intimate settings of their Roadburn and Bannermans Bar recordings, with the energy levels noticeably higher from the off. Session drummer Dan Mullins (Blasphemer) brings a vitriolic intensity to songs like Revengeance, making this one of Conan’s most aggressive recordings to date. It’s a shame there’s nothing off latest album Existential Void Guardian, but this is still a worthwhile slab of heaviness and timely reminder of how damn good gigs were.
