WORDS: HANNAH MAY KILROY • PICTURES: KRISTIN HAYTER

WE DON’T THROW
the word ‘masterpiece’ around lightly, but Kristin Hayter aka Lingua Ignota’s 2019 debut, Caligula, is certainly worthy of that accolade –a bewilderingly inventive work of stately beauty and jarring noise that triumphantly turned her personal trauma into glorious art. She’s spent the past year working on its follow-up, Sinner Get Ready, which she reveals has a few surprises in store.
When did you first go into the studio, and how has it been?
