GENGHIS TRON

NY’s experimental noise crew return on a higher, hazy plane
Understand one thing: this is, and is not, Genghis Tron. At some point the band lost themselves to an almighty comedown, leaving behind the brilliant digi-grind of Board Up The House and a mess of dirty glitter swirling in the last brown suds of a truly bacchanalian foam party. Now, founder members Hamilton Jordan and Michael Sochynsky have reunited sans vocalist Mookie Singerman – replaced by The Armed’s Tony Wolski – and with an actual human drummer – Sumac’s Nick Yacyshyn. The results are different but also a bizarre and masterful fulfilment of promise, wherein the savagery has been scaled back and replaced with woozy shoegaze drifts, 90s post-hardcore melodies and neon-lit Drive soundtrack synths. Genghis Tron are dead, long live Genghis Tron!
