Japanese post-rockers orchestrate a 20th anniversary celebration
In December 2019, Japan’s celebrated post-rockers Mono played London’s Barbican Centre with an orchestra to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Beyond The Past presents the twohour performance in its entirety, which focuses predominantly on the latter part of their career, six of the 12 songs coming from their latest album, Nowhere Now Here. Luckily, songs like After You Comes The Flood and Sorrow are some of the most soul-stirring and emotive of the band’s career. The highlight, however, is the debut performance of Exit In Darkness –a collaborative song between Mono and A.A. Williams that proves the whole is greater than the sum of its delicate and intricate parts.
