Brazilian rockers earn the Dave Grohl seal of approval
It’s easy to understand why Dave Grohl loves these Brazilians. There are times when they tap into the Foo Fighters’ approach, as on the alt-pop/rock of Beautiful or the grungy Deliverance, but they also possess an intricacy and heaviness that sits comfortably alongside Stone Sour. Recorded at Grohl’s 606 Studio, The Dance Between Extremes demands to be played over and over. It gets under your skin. Some tracks have already been released on EPs The Dance and The Dance Between, but they work better in this fuller context. There are many highlights, the album reaching a peak on Starving Drones (A Dinner Talk), where the band’s multiple attributes assuredly coalesce. A magnificent second album from a breathtaking band.
