THE CLC (Cheshire Lines Committee) route between Liverpool and Manchester via Warrington Central saw an unusual visitor on May 13 when a TransPennine Express Class 802 unit called at all stations on the route in both directions.
Sadly passengers were unable to avail themselves of the additional service, with its first class accommodation, as set 802218 was being used to carry out station verification tests. This includes checking the position and visibility of stop boards, visibility of signals at platforms, ease of access for ramps and how many doors are at the platform for shorter stations. While TPE has no plans to operate an all stations service on the route the information has been added to the units’ database, ensuring that it is now up to date.
