THE Welshpool & Llanfair Light Railway (WLLR) has launched an appeal tagged A Railway Transformed, with the objective of financing overhauling Baguley 0-6-0DM No. 7 Chattenden (likely to cost £120,000) and developing a premium dining train.
Chattenden was built in 1949 for naval service, initially on the Lodge Hill & Upnor Railway in Kent. It arrived at WLLR in 1968 and is primarily employed on works trains.
