BUSES will replace trains between Maidstone East and Ashford International for nine days in August while landslip prevention work takes place on the 150-year-old Bearstead cutting.
Engineers will use soil nailing, a stabilisation technique which involves inserting steel bars into the slope face and attaching mesh to them. Improvements to other earthworks, drainage, flood mitigation and track and signalling work will also be carried out while the line is closed.
