THE EU Commission expects its national capitals to develop a 72-hour survival kit for citizens and sign up to an EU-wide stockpiling strategy for food and medical supplies.
Though not quite a call for tin hats and fallout shelters, there is more than a note of alarm about the Preparedness Union Strategy, which also calls for more stockpiling of essential supplies such as minerals, energy and industrial equipment and for improved civilian-military co-operation.
