BALANCE YOUR PLATE

‘To sustain energy throughout the day you need a good balance of carbohydrates, protein and fat in all meals,’ says Anita. It’s this combination that helps slow down the absorption and release of carbohydrates into the bloodstream and produce sustained energy. ‘When you have a meal that’s especially high in carbs you run into problems with blood sugar spikes, followed by a temporary dip, which can lead to tiredness,’ she adds.
