It’s this combination that helps slow down the absorption and release of carbohydrates into the bloodstream and produce sustained energy. ‘When you have a meal that’s especially high in carbs you run into problems with blood sugar spikes, followed by a temporary dip, which can lead to tiredness,’ she adds.
