LONDON Northwestern Railway began its introduction of Class 730 Alstom-built‘Aventra’ electric multiple units on November 13, with Nos. 730010 and 730007 becoming the first class members to work a revenue-earning service.
They worked the 06.04 departure from Bletchley to London Euston, returning from the capital with the 07.24 to Tring.
Liveried for use by West Midlands Railway (which, like LNR, is part of West Midlands Trains) between Walsall and Wolverhampton and on the Cross City Line through Birmingham, pairs of three-car Class 730/0s are being used on West Coast Main Line workings until five-car Class 730/2s become available later this year. Class 730/2s will take on LNR’s longer distance WCML workings with some Class 350s moving to shorter diagrams.
