Exercises for stability and strength
Anne-Marie Lategan takes us through eight exercises that will help knees that are recovering from injury. Doing these will improve flexibility and stability, as well as building strength throughout your body
Over the last few months we may have had limited access to fitness professionals, but that hasn’t stopped us; it’s perfectly possible to do lots of strength work offyour own bat at home. This issue, we concentrate on knee health and fitness, featuring eight exercises which require only minimal gym kit.
A couple of common sense tips before we start: if your knee is sore or you have swelling, make sure you work within a pain-free or low-pain zone; and if an exercise hurts your knee, leave it for a few weeks and come back to it.
Warm up
Swing your leg forwards and backwards 10 times, followed by 10 swings to the left and right, making sure you keep your knee at a comfortable angle.
